Public Transport
– There is no direct route by public transport from London to Castle Hedingham. If you are travelling on Sunday 14 May, the best way would be:

EITHER:

By train – London Liverpool Street to Braintree (1 change)
(Depart 08:32 – Arrive Braintree 09:38)
            09:32                        10:38)
Cost: £15 return

(If you are staying in the area on Saturday night, travel on Saturday from Liverpool Street:
Departs 48 mins past the hour – Arrives at Braintree 1 hour 4 mins later – no changes. Cost: £19-50 return)

OR:

By coach – from London Victoria Coach Station to Braintree station
(National Express 06:40 am – Arrives Braintree 09:25 – Cost: £30-75 return)

Then Taxi – from Braintree to Castle Hedingham - £24 (approx) (Hedingham Cars – 01787 – 460738)

Getting There by Road

Hedingham Castle is situated in the village of Castle Hedingham, half a mile from the A1017 between Cambridge and Colchester.
How to get there from London: M25, M11 exit 8 (A120 Colchester), take A120 to Braintree. Circle round the bypass following Sudbury signs. The castle is signposted from here. 1m out of Braintree on Sudbury road, branch left on A1017 to Gosfield and the Hedinghams. In Sible Hedingham, take right turning to Castle Hedingham and turn left to castle at top of village main street. Entrance gates 200 yards on right.
